I am looking for a dog for my son and I.

Looked on craigslist and I came across a post that pissed me off.

"Basically I boxer puppy is needing a new home or she is going to the pound today"

Why are you charging a fee if you're just taking her to the pound?

WDYT

Maybe they paid for the dog and are trying to get their money back? If they've paid for shots and stuff, or if she comes with anything (bed, food, ect) then I'd expect to pay something. A puppy carries a big upfront cost.

How much is she asking?

Whenever I read the pets section on craigslist I get sick to my stomach.

Here if we drop a dog off at the pound, we have to pay a fee, maybe that's what they are trying to get? But now that I think about it I guess they wouldn't need the fee, unless they were taking it to the pound...Hmmm, Idk then!

She comes with nothing, hasn't been spayed or dewormed, no shots, $150

Heck, the fee in KY is $25 to drop off at the pound, but to adopt its about $50+ depending on animal. But they're at least spayed/neutered, chipped, de-wormed, and up to date on shots. I say go to Petsmart (ours has only rescue animals, there fee is about $75, but guarantee the pet, it doesn't work out for you or the pet, bring it back!).

Is the boxer registered and pure bred?

That'd be the only way I'd pay $150 for it. She's using the pound as a guilt thing...she has no intentions of taking a dog she could sell for $700 to the freaking pound because it's pissing in her damn floor. She's just trying to get something to feel sorry for a dog to make her shady ass some money...

Some people request a rehoming fee to make sure that the person adopting the animal is serious about it and considers it an investment because there's a lot of people on cl who "flip" animals..get free kittens and then turn around and sell them.

This does not seem to be the case.
