Is this necessary? and what's the best way to warm them if it is..

annddd once you feed your baby from a bottle can you return what's uneaten to the fridge? Is it different with breast milk and formula? Can one be returned and the other not or discard any uneaten milk either way?

It isn't necessary to warm formula. We've done everything. Warm, room temp cold, they didn't care how they got it. We used a bottle warmer we got from a baby shower. It warmed the bottle evenly, so there were no hot spots to burn their mouths. You're not supposed to use a microwave though. During the day I would just mix the formula with warm water from the tap.

I you formila feed, it can be reused for 2 hours, but then needs to be thrown out, according to the Drs at our L & D.

Is it okay for 1 hour? We were told 2 when we had the boys, but it could have changed to 1 since then.

It really depends on the child, my daughter hated cold bottles...they gave her a really sore stomach, so I had to warm them up.

Okay, so with breast milk I should poor it into different bottles if I want to stretch out how long it lasts? Not have it all in one and put it back? I'm new to this stuff. She's barely a week old today!

Okay, sounds good to me! I haven't seen a formula can in a year! OP, change my comment from 2 years to 1.

Especially never microwave breastmilk (it kills everything good) and dont overheat it, that will also comprise the milk.

Bowl of hot water is best, and swirl it every couple of minutes until it is the right temp, breastfed babies generally dont like cold milk.

Well first are you trying to EBF? I'd she having latching issues? It's not recommended to have bottles introduced that early! If you are having to use bottles time frame is 6-6-6. 6 hours on the counter, 6 days in the fridge, 6 months in a reg freezer. It's good up to 12 hours in a deep freezer. Once you put it in the fridge, warm it in warm water. Never microwave BM as it looses nutrients and can cause hot spots. Once you feed, I believe i was told the baby has 24 hours to eat it but I don't remember. Brady was big by the time he would take a bottle.

I know it's not best to introduce nipples this early but she is latching on my boob and bottles equally great! So, once a bottle with breast milk is drank from throw the rest away too or is that just formula?

the doctors in the hospital didn't tell me one thing about how to take care of a baby. Not one single thing. I was there for 3 days.
