Does this count as a "Mama" ? raptor mommy saves 1 child; Berlin, Germany 811 posts

For the last week or two, DS has been saying "mamamamamamamam" when he is hungry, sleepy, or if he is crying. I didn't think much of it cause he doesn't say it when DH points at me and says "mama".
But this morning DH had his shower with DS and they came into our bedroom, which is pitchblack and I was sleeping, so DS couldn't see me. I mumbled something in my sleep, and DS goes "mamamamam!". So I'm wondering if that counts as his first word :D

My daughter said mama at 5 months old but only a couple of times while she was sick with an ear infection. Then she stopped and it was all baba for another few months. I think she was around 9 months when she started saying mama again and finally dada. She's 14 months now and full of chat and babbles. I love watching her on the video monitor when I put her upstairs for her nap, she usually babbles away to herself for about 15 minutes before lying down and going to sleep. I lately just figured out Ra-ra is for grandad lol coz she's pointing at my dad and saying it now.

Woohoo! See I wasn't quite sure cause I didn't want to jump the gun early lol, especially since they say boys usually take longer to start speaking.

When my youngest started making mamamamama noises I started always saying mama to her, she quickly learnt to shorten it to just mama. She's almost 11 months and says it all the time it's so cute!
All of mine have said mama first lol :D

My LO turns 9 months old in 6 days and he's been on a mama dada kick lol. He'll look at SO and yell dada. If I say mama he'll repeat me. If I don't wake up with him like I'm supposed to he'll sit there and yell at me MAMA MAMA MAMA MAMA and shake his bed (it hits the wall) till I get up.

Yeah I say mama back to him too, but he just laughs at me lol. I'm just waiting for him to say it on purpose without him needing something from me I guess :D

Yeppers, it's him trying to say mama. DS did the same thing around that age.
