My daughters grandparents are telling me they are going to take me to court for grandparent rights, her father is a drug addict that is on his way to prison for the 2nd time he's not a part of her life at all, I did used to let her see them(the grandparents) but thy have gone behind my back letting her talk to him and also told her he was in jail, my 4 year old child did not need to know that!!

But I'm just wondering for anyone that's been to court for this what was the out come and how it went, what I should be prepared for. Thank you!

It depends on your state's laws. In my state, grandparent's don't have rights.

If your state does have grandparent's rights, it will all depend on how much time she has spent with them and whether the judge thinks having a relationship with them will be a benefit to her.

Grandparents have no guaranteed rights.

I truly doubt anything will come of it.

Those two things are not remotely connected.

Is child support ordered through the courts?

That's just what something I read online said, yes it is but I've only ever revived anything 2 times and once was because he bonded out of jail and part of that went to me and then one time he payed like 100$

State to state and most grandparents don't have rights unless they had custody of the child at some point

Every state is different. But as the others said. MI doesn't have grandparent rights.

You shouldn't have anything to worry about. MI does not have grandparent rights. One of my friends went through something similar with her BD's family. They pretty much just got laughed at.

I would hate that!! I don't see the need for them to be there that often!! I'm glad it looks like I don't have to worry.
