GI testing... didn't go like I thought Peyton'sMommy♥ 1 child; Springfield, Ohio 16806 posts

Had an EGD test done today. Basically they stuck a camera down my throat and looked at my esophagus and stomach. It's routine since I have a lot of other GI issues. It took them 3 times to get an iv and they had to put a small needle in. They gave me prophthol to put me to sleep and it burned like hell for a good 2 mins before I fell asleep. Then I woke up and he told DH that he took 2 biopsies of 2 places that concerned him. I may have Barrett's esophagus, it increases the risk of esophagus cancer by .5 percent every year. So that's kind of scary. It's a small percentage but still... Ahh and it doesn't help I slept so long now I am going to be awake like all f**king night. Boo.

I don't know what to say hope for the best. Biopsies are always scary. I have been in remission for over a year and all testing since scares the hell out of me. I never want to get blood work done even. I wish I could calm your mind. I can make you laugh, my last gi appointment was a colonoscopy at 25 years old. This was very very recent. Apparently I have diverticulitis and they wanted to double check my colon :-( I feel violated and extremely gassy without control!

I mean I KNOW the risk of it is not high but it still wasn't what I was expecting. I just hope that it's nothing, I have too many issues already so adding more--just sucks!
