What did you give your baby for their very first foods?
Don't mention cereal, I mean puree wise.

DD first had a taste of softened/crushed dates as a newborn, but her first real food that she ate regularly was either lentil soup or hommus I can't remember.

Thank you. Would squash be ok too? I really wanted to give him avocado, but I don't have any right now.

Always start with a veggie. I start with peas and then green beans and so on.

We started with avocado. I skipped cereal all together. After avocado dd had sweet potato, and then banana.

Yeah, my doctor said to start with veggies, but I also heard that greens give them gas so to wait? I'm not sure what to start with.

Very much. I don't do traditional introduction to solids like buying jarred foods or pureeing typical steamed veggies and fruits. I just let her eat age appropriate table foods and now she's like the least picky child I know at almost 4yo.

lol how did she do?
I did oatmeal once to see if he would take from a spoon, and it didn't go so well. Hoping it goes better next time.

Yes! I went to the farmers market be bought a bunch of veggies and fruits. I went home and spent the day making foods and freezing. :) I bought zucchini, squash, avocado, eggplant, potato, sweet potato, apples.

I just slowly introduced them. The only food at 15 months I've found that she won't eat is asparagus

Around 6-7 months I started with giving her bites here and there while she sat on my lap and around 7-8 months I started letting her sit with us at lunch and dinner and actually feeding her. If I ever made a dinner with foods she couldn't handle I would just make lentils separate for her. Then just kind of went with the flow after that.

When he started purees it was veggies. Squash, Sweet Potatoes and carrots first. Then green veggies. Then onto fruit. That was at 4 months. 5 months he got finger foods like the puffs and different kinds of cereals and snacks. Fresh cut fruit and veggies in tiny pieces. Then from 6 months on it was all table foods.
