Nay you got to register with DEERS to receive dental and regular insurance.
Also OP military doctors suck lol so if you live off base I advise if you want tricare prime to live over 30 minutes away from the base.

Simply you need to go to DEERS and enroll yourself and your son before you can have insurance.

Pretty sure she means. He'll fill out paper work before he leaves with your and child info and do more paper work 1st week of basic. You'll receive something called deers packet. You'll have to go enroll in Deers that's tri care your insurance and get your military ID. Keep in mind dental is not part of this.

Haha so I've heard! Thanks for the tip. We probably won't have any choice but to live on base though, unfortunately.

You do, but they take it all for your rent. I have friends that live on base and don't even see their BAH. We live in town and our BAH covers our mortgage and most of our bills.

If you live overseas and are below a certain rank, yes you have to live on base. Stateside, no. They will give you BAH according to rank and dependents. You really gotta be smart if you're going to live off post. We have been here for a year and we chose to stay on base for a year first so we can get to know the area before we got ourselves in an off post lease and ended up hating the area.

So it's pretty much as no receiving it lol. Never lived on post but I knew they didn't see the money. There's no way in hell I would have lived in FT hood though.

Agreed!!! I HATE going to the clinic on base. They do not care about the families at all. I'd much rather see a doctor in town, but we're prime

His army and we are here at fort bliss, we have been here since 09 lived off post did ok with using the bah but the summer it took it all since we had to run the ac. He deployed I moved home been back a year now and we live on post, but live off post.. But it's military housing. Love it!!! E1-e3 I believe is same basic pay with the yearly raise. And then e4 basic pay goes up e5 bah goes up? And I don't know then rest lol! Don't quote me on that.

Yeah, they lose all their BAH and the housing community has just decided, now they have to pay their own electric bills. Before, the BAH covered it all except cable/internet/phone.
Our BAH out in town covers our mortgage payment and most of the utilities. But, we're also a higher rank than they are.
