Quoting Laneys*Mama:" lol I just know she's really sensitive. When she told me the name (via text) I was like, "oh that's ... [snip!] ... her feelings I think I'll just stay out of it. I have serious issues with wanting to name everybody's children around me lol"

Me too. Or make sure it's a name I approve of.

Right?!
I know a lot of people on here like the name, but my brother's girlfriend wants to name their daughter Persephone, and I HATE it. I am trying every way in the world to suggest other names, but she dislikes anything anyone else brings up to her. They can't agree on a name at all anyway, but I'm so disappointed that she wants to name my niece that, like it's really my call lol

It could be.
Another name she likes is Oakley :? My brother can't seem to convince her that that is a brand of sunglasses. She's convinced no one would recognize it. Not to mention "Annie Oakley"...

Chelsea isn't too bad. Caden is way too common and that's not even close to any way it sounds like it should be spelled. Kayley doesn't look like it's spelled right either, but that's probably because I have a friend named Kayly.

I just find it ironic that every name I brought up for DD my brother made fun of. A lot. Except the name I chose. Now he's stuck with a girl that wants to name her kid Oakley or Persephone.

Caden is actually the original legitimate spelling. That and Aidan. Those are the proper spellings that haven't been bastardized.

I suggested Persephone for our daughter, but my husband doesn't like the legend behind the name. And Oakley is HORRIBLE!

Really?? I didn't know that. I like Aidan, but all of the Aidan, Caden, Brayden, Hayden..... along with the Hailey Shaylee Braylee Kaylee Bailey. It's too much.

I suggested Amelia. My brother liked it, she did not. She said it's too similar to DD's name (Alaina) and that she didn't like names that end in vowels because they're not professional
I'm pretty sure the 3 names she said today were GabriellE, PersephonE, and OakleY. Pretty sure those are vowels lol

My husband liked Aidan for our son because it's old, and Irish, but I told him no way in hell lol

That was one I was seriously considering. That, or Gavin. They were about the only boy names I could like, but I didn't want such a common name. Thankfully, I had a girl.
I'm pretty sure if I ever have more kids I'm going to steal some of the names they've brought up but I know they're not using. Amelia for a girl, and Oliver for a boy.

We live in a super small town. People in this area don't use names like that so I'd be ok with it lol

I look at National popularity. Our daughter's name was only used 10 times last year. Our son's was used on 557 boys including him. A bit much for my taste, but the Doctor Who fandom is growing in the States.

As long as it's not on like the top 5 or 10 list I don't really mind. Even then, if I liked it enough I would probably still use it. My thing is just that I can't KNOW someone personally with that name. Like with DD, if I would think of a name and immediately think of another person, or know that someone I knew had a child named that, I wouldn't use it. Her name ended up (distantly) being a form of 2 of my great aunts though, so I love it. It suits her :)
