Teeth mean ready for solids? BakingBean2 2 kids; Ohio 2247 posts

This is just me thinking, lol, wanted to hear your opinions. My DD didn't get teeth until around eight-nine months, I think and was NOT interested in food until then, couldn't get her to eat solids, really, at all until she got her teeth. My DS is four months and has the signs and symptoms of teething green poop with white chunks (he's breastfed) chewing on everything, running a little hotter than normal, excessively drooly etc. does this mean he will be ready for solids sooner? Does when a baby get their teeth have any correlation to when they want solids? We will do some purees but for the most part we do BLW when it's time, not planning on starting them for a couple more months at least or until I feel he is full ready. Just curious.

I don't think so. Dd got teeth right before she turned 3 months. She was in no way ready! I offered her food starting at 6 months. She refused it till 8 months. My nephew didn't get teeth till 10 months but loves food!!! He will eat all day long If you let him and he's been that way since starting solids at 6 months.

Nope. Solids before a year are just for fun anyways.

DS was getting solids at 4-5 months. Didn't pop a tooth till 7.5 months. Has nothing to do with it. Just depends on what the child wants.

Nope dd had teeth at 5 mos and didnt get food til 8. Dd2 has been teething but she's a food hound. She wants to put anything and everything in her mouth. But she can't figure out how to eat it yet. We're doing blw so once she can figure out how to eat it she can have it.

DDs pedi always told me it was more of when they showed signs of being ready. If she was actually "chewing" (or gumming) when we put baby food or snacks in her mouth, that she may be ready to start introducing solids.

How old is DD2 and what sort of stuff are you putting in front of her, what signs did you look for to know to start putting food in front of her?

If teeth meant DS was ready for solids he would have had solids at 4 weeks old haha. His first tooth popped through at 4 and a half weeks old, his second at 6 weeks old. He didn't get solids until 6-7 months

No correlation, my DD didn't get teeth until 16 months and she definitely needed solids before then, it was just crappy how tiny everything needed to be cut up for tho!

Shes 5 mos. I don't intentionally give her anything. She attacks our food and drink. She just doesn't know how to eat it yet. I assume around 6-8 mos shell figure it out. She just licks everything cause she doesn't know how to chew.

Lol! He's just learned to grasp things as well and they all go straight to the mouth! We haven't given him anything as I'm ultra nervous about starting too soon. I was just thinking out loud and wondered if they had any correlation, lol, it apparently blanked my mind that some babies get teeth really early and what not...

I'm not really worried about allergies. We have no history of food allergies except seafood in SOs side, and I figure with all the food on my hands and such I she was THaT allergic she'd have reacted by now.

My siblings all got teeth later on so I had the same thoughts until I had my son and he had 2 teeth at 6 weeks old lol
