DS constantly asks people "Do you like me?" followed by "Do you love me"

Is that odd?

I tell him I love you aaaall the time so I don't know if he's asking so I smother him with kisses and tell him I love you.

He has autism and is starting to say I love you a lot more. It wasn't that long ago that he wouldn't say it. When someone would tell him I love you he'd respond with a hug or kiss but he wouldn't say it.

What do you think?

I started singing that song from Fiddler on the Roof when I read the title.

I don't think it's odd at all.

Do i think it weird in that situation? No probably not. I mean even if it was a kid that didn't have special needs, it might not be that weird depending on the age i guess. He might honestly not know if people like/love him outside of you guys and it's right to the point. Kids are nothing but straight forward anyway. :)

He may be exploring social boundaries. Some kids are very instinctive with them, others not so much ( I have one of each) He may be trying to place people as to where they fit in his life, and how he should be responding to them.
It seems pretty normal to me. Children often need to know where they stand with people, and use different ways to gauge relationships. His is very direct. I like it :)

Oh yeah. He's really literal too.

DS has recently started asking me if I'm mad then roght after if I'm happy.

I don't think either situations are weird.

My son does that too! He goes " You mad, you sad, you happy...which one"
