Did you or are you waiting the full 6 weeks to resume sex or how soon?
And WHY wait so long??

When your placenta detaches from your uterine wall it crates a wound that needs to heal. 6 weeks is to minimize the risk of infection

My doctor cleared me at my 4 week check up, I wasn't interested in intercourse before that. I had a tear that was healing. They recommend the wait because your insides are healing (hence the bleeding) and you are very susceptible to infection

I did, but I'm a rule follower. You're supposed to wait because everything is still healing down there and you don't want to introduce infection into an open wound.

I did, because honestly, I just pushed a 7 pound baby out of my vagina, the last thing on my mind was sex. I also had no desire to deal with possible infections or any of that jazz. No thank you.

"WHY wait so long??"

Because, f**k, believe it or not, I didn't feel like it. It's almost like it's my decision.

And since your cervix is most of the time still closing it's 10 times easier to get pregnant then any other time. I got pregnant with my second son from pre-c*m 3 weeks after having my oldest. Between another pregnancy and infection and healing it's just not worth it in the end. 6 weeks isn't that long to go to wait.

with my first I was cleared at 2 weeks and I had stitches that had to heal then.
This time I had no stitches and my bleeding stopped as well. We are still waiting...

Lots of women DO want to have sex before the 6 weeks rule, though. I'm assuming OP wants to have sex and wants to know why her doctor advises against it.

What's the rush, honestly? Take care of the newb for a while before dicking it up again.
