When you have anxiety attacks, what helps you get through them? I've been dealing with them for yrs, and wish they would just go away

I used to have them frequently,
and what helped me is just understanding what was actually happening during an anxiety attack.
After that, when i felt one coming on, I could talk myself out of it before i got to the cold/sweating/losing control of my breathing parts.

Try just closing your eyes and take long deep breaths

I make sure to keep control of my breathing, but my heart rate and shakes are crazy when they come on. My medication used to take the edge off, but now it doesn't seem to be doing it

It's a mental thing, addressing what's causing it could help with the actual physical anxiety attack.
come up with a calming mantra to say whenever you feel one coming on.
sounds goofy, but could help.

I lie down if I can and breathe deeply. Also tell myself that it's just an attack and I won't die and it will end.

I read how to tame a worry dragon it's a children's guide to understanding anxiety. But the fact that I was an adult and reading a children's story to help me cope made me out things into perspective about how silly it is to let anxiety control my life. Took 10 yrs of therapists, books, advice and it turns out a kids book worked best lol. Now I am always able to talk myself down I haven't had a panic attack for 2 yrs :)

It happens. Sometimes it's really hard to control the anxiety. I've been dealing with attacks literally since I can remember, so probably before. It took until I was 24 and put on meds before I was able to reclaim my life. I didn't want to have to rely on them and I've been able to take them less now but for a while, we had to keep upping them until we found a perfect balance along with therapy. It's really tough. I'm rooting for you and I hope you're able to get a handle on it.

You know what...my depression meds did that. At first I felt awesome...then it was like they stopped working so I went to the dr. And they up the dose. Then I stopped taking them for a week....went on a downward spiral!!! Got my prescription refilled and ever since they have been working.
I have anxiety meds too. Have you tried Busbar? I think thats how u spell it.

No I've never heard of it....but I will look into it. I've tried everything, even therapists. I hate how I get so exhausted from them.
