is this weird? KNZ. 3 kids; Washington 59191 posts

My daughter just turned 3 two days ago.

I like to think she's pretty intelligent
She can count infinitely
Spell her name
Recognize letters and spell out words she has in front of her
draws like this:
YaGegr9.jpg

etc etc
not trying to brag, at all, ha- just, tell you where she's at,
becauuuuse.
she can NOT do colors.
and she lives in a VERY colorful/artistic environment.
we paint daily, etc etc.
but still- even the simplest of colors, she has not mastered.
is that...normal? compared to where she's at with everything else-
what would make her struggle with something simpler, like colors?

You mean she doesn't know the name of the colors?

Axavier, my almost 3 year old is like that, kinda.
He can tell you things about planets...and talk about the earth, and weather, and just go on and on about stuff...but he had such a hard time with colors...like he would call green red, or blue orange...and I knew it wasn't that he was color blind, because if I told him to get me the green crayon, he would.

IDK what it is...I was starting to get worried but just kinda let it be and just kept repeating the information, he's good with colors now.

I don't think it's weird. Your daughter is clearly a very talented and clever young girl. I wouldn't worry about it.

correct. so if i tell her to grab the 'blue paint'...we're picking up the wrong paint for the next few seconds.
or if i ask her what color she wants.

That's kinda weird. Does maybe.. she have colour blindness? It is possible in women.

see, if i tell her to get me the colored item, she'd be stumped ha.
and we talk colors daily!
it's so odd to me, because she has an amazing memory with everything
..but colors.

Hmm... can she distinguish between different colors? I wonder if a few look the same to her.

I didn't mean to imply something IS wrong by they way. Just trying to help with possible explanations other than, y'know, she just isn't "there" yet for wanting to comprehend it.

'cause she's way too smart for it to really be much else.
