Potty training... Kait. 3 kids; Iowa 2345 posts

We are starting today! She'll be 2 on August 11th. We are heading to the store to get "rewards" here in a little bit. Any ideas? What worked with your 2 year old? I was going to get stickers for her to wear, but I don't know what else. I let her wear underwear today for the first time today and she just pooped in them...she didn't like that... she ran right over to her potty and finished in the potty. Stood up and said "I did it, I good".. She's showing signs of being ready - telling us when she pooped, wanting her diaper off right away, not wanting to wear a diaper at all, and using "potty words"...

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Have patience and expect ups and downs. At that age she may use the potty for several days, then not touch it again for a month, so don't be surprised even if she's doing well, then back tracks.

Signs of being ready are telling you BEFORE she goes, but good luck.

My son was potty trained by 2, but what we did is just put him on the potty frequently when he was a baby/toddler and when he got a little older he started showing us when he had to go and we put him on the potty and that was that.

I'll say this too... with my oldest we started "potty training" before he was two as well and honestly, it was just a waste of time. He knew what we wanted him to do and was plenty capable of doing it, but wasn't ready. He was not even close to potty trained until after three (which is when he just suddenly caught on when we weren't even working with him) and even still he's five now and not night "trained".

We did not try that early with any of our other kids. We didn't "try" at all actually. We left a training potty available and my daughter just randomly started using it at 2 1/2 and has been fully potty trained, even at night ever since. And my youngest just caught on at three as well, again, with no "help". I bought him a potty and told him what to do and let him use it when he wanted.

She does tell us before poop. Not pee though...

I was fully PT at 16 months old so I'm hoping she trains as easy as I did.

She pees so much though...like her diaper is full to the max every half hour no matter how much she does or doesn't drink. That's what I'm most worried about.
