You would think they would say something first though.

My friend had her son taken away for unsanitary conditions, but they tried to convince her to leave the house and go somewhere else. She said no an they took him.

I think something is missing.

If what you're saying is true, then you should go talk to some lawyers. You might luck out and find some one to represent you for free, or at least let you make payments, since this is such a rare situation, and since CPS is clearly overstepping by taking them for NO reason.

My BILs mom had cps called on her many times for unsanitary living condition. They would give her a certain amount of time to clean it up and she always did so. They never took the kids even though they were called once a year for 5 years. She never cleaned and the house was like something off of hoarders. She's only clean it up when cps threatened to remove the kids of not done by the next visit. They were never taken.

There must be more to the story op. sorry but I've never heard of this happening do no reason and they've never withheld why the investigation was being done.

Dh was taken away when he was 4 but cps told the parents why. They told them there were accusation of molestation. They can't give specific details but they have to tell you why.

IDK I have never had that happen to me but it doesn't seem right. Regardless if it's on ongoing investigation you should have the right to know what the hell is going on. I would do as others said and try and get a lawyer. Was there a police officer present as well?

Legally I'm 80% sure unless you have been "founded" as an extreme risk they have to tell you why you are being investigated.

from what I gather CPS in the states will pretty much do what it wants ... wasn't there another mama on here whose baby was taken away because of a staph infection?

Yes and no on the anything they want. They can't just randomly pick a family to investigate. Someone has to make a report (whether it is true or not). Depending on the severity of the accusations, they either make a visit to "investigate" or, if it is really bad , they will remove the child and then investigate. They do, however, have no entity "above" them and some case world have been known to be over zealous and operated outside the law.

OP, I've dealt with CPS. I was a child in an abusive home with multiple reports of molestation and physical abuse from teachers and family members (as well as myself) and I was never taken except for once when I was 12 where I was placed temporarily with my dad. They can't not tell you why they took your kids.

There is definitely something missing.

As for the unsanitary conditions idea, CPS usually gives parents a few days or weeks to clean up before taking children. They only take children as an absolute last resort and that only happens when there is imminent danger. Someone saying the OP has PPD isn't going to get her kids taken away. There's more to this story.
