This is a poll, but you can elaborate. Just curious what BG has to say about it. Although I know most of you are extended bf-ers

I didn't feed my babies breastmilk past about 3 months and I'm totally for BFing until mother and/or child are done with it.

May I ask why? Just curious!

And I wanna hear from these people who voted past 1 was unnecessary

I don't think it is beneficial past certain ages, but certainly not gross.

What age would say it is no longer beneficial.

Personally, I don't see why people feel it is their business to say who can breastfeed and at what age it needs to stop. I feel like unless it is your boob in that babies mouth, you just need to mind your own business.

That said, I didn't breastfeed my son 2 1/2 years ago and I probably won't breastfeed the one I am pregnant with now. I'm a junior in college and I have to attend class and I spend a LOT of time on my homework to keep my grades high. My SO and I need the convenience of bottle feeding so that he can watch our children and I can get some peace and quiet to get my work done. I feel like MY right should be respected just like I respect breastfeeding moms!

My nipples are so inverted that breastfeeding is very, very difficult. I saw LCs from multiple hospitals and I just...I ended up pumping but it's time consuming and I have a tendency to get PPD in which pumping only exacerbates the PPD issue.

Anyways...I think some of the hangup over BFing past 1 is due to the sexual aspect of breasts. It weirds people out to see a child attached to something that is moreso thought to be a sexual part of the body than a functional one. I guess it probably makes people feel uncomfortable to be witnessing what their mind conceives as a form of sexual molestation, even if they refuse to admit it.

Same age as is recommended for weaning from formula.

Once it is not a nutritional need.

Not sure why extended BF is the bee's knee's and formula past age 1 is akin to selling your soul to the devil. But that's my basis.

I understand what your saying in some ways. In other ways BM changes to accommodate the needs of the child. But I am biased as I bfed.

They actually make formula for 1+ years old. I don't think its formula that is discouraged, per say... I would say its just getting formula in the form of a bottle.

Beeees kneeees. Lol. My dd is 21 months and still a big nurser. I'm glad though since she sucks at eating and doesn't drink any other milk. If my dd was a good eater and liked other forms of milk I wouldn't care to nurse lol, at least as much

I mix-fed

When I returned to work I was unable to pump enough so had to supplement with formula.

So why does it matter what kind of nipple it comes out of?
I mean, that is just foolish.

My babies were preemies and I kept them on formula until 18 months each.

I honestly don't give a shit how long someone bf's or ff's
