Would it be too much to ask for this weeks payment back? Smash Fins ; 2 kids; Denver, Colorado 1293 posts

So my son goes to an at home daycare place that I LOVE.
I always pay 2 weeks in advance and yesterday she texted me stating that she was discontinuing his daycare indefinitely do to some family issues.

Well I had already paid her this week and my son hasn't even gone.

Do you think it would be too much to ask for my payment back?

No. You should get your payment back.

This. If she is unable to provide the service you paid for then you deserve your money back.

No! I'd ask since she won't be watching him the week that you already paid

You should definitively ask for it back. The only way I would say not to is if you know she needs it more than you do and you just want to make a nice gesture for her or something.

No, she should have already told you the amount you would be getting back and when you could pick it up. As a professional she shouldn't put you in that position to have to ask.
Buy on the other hand maybe she is super stressed and just forgot to mention it. I would just ask hee when a good time would be to pick up your refund.

I just thought it was weird that she didn't even offer to give it back to me.

Oh No! That's a shocking thing to have happen. You should absolutely get your money back. I would give her a call, and express how saddened you are that she will not be providing care for your child anymore but hope that she is ok and that her issues are sorted out soon. Then also ask about the payment and if you could drop by later that day or the next to pick it up along with any of his belongings that may be there. I would be very nice about it, she's obviously going through something but that doesn't mean that you're not entitled to your money. GL!
