So, I have this friend. My best friend. I confide a lot in her and she does the same with me. Well, we have a mutual friend. But the mutual friend and I don't really interact since she moved when her DH deployed and she moved home. She is back now, but we haven't met up. We haven't both had a free day. So anyway my best friend was talking to me and I had to interrupt her and tell her to stop, because she went off on our mutual friend and her husband and their family status/problems. It started off as good stuff, like things she posts on FB and things that are positive and I'm sure mutual friend wouldn't mind sharing. However, when she turned into intimate details I told her, I'm sure she was telling you that as a friend and not to take it anywhere. And she said, she doesn't lie, she's just being honest. And I told her, there is a difference between telling info that's share worthy and keeping private- privileged information. There is a difference in if someone asks you a question and you lie or tell the truth or give a generic not truth and not lie response. So, I've obviously told her things I don't tell anybody because she's my best girl friend and nothing is off limits. Now I'm wondering what she's told who about me and my life and my husband when we've had disagreements in the past. And totally second thinking if this is someone I should be sharing my personal stuff with.

Am I totally over reacting? Do you expect some things to stay between you and a fellow friend? Or is anything you say free for sharing?

I have a friend that would b***h about everyone when we hung out. Tell me about others girl's "baby daddy" problems and her best friend's sex life. I stopped telling her anything about my life, it's not up for her to gossip to randoms about.

your BF likes to gossip. she most likely shares your life with others too.

I would either accept how she is, or distance myself.

I have a best friend and we kind of have a code of conduct. She lives in a really small town where one of the first things you learn how to do after starting to talk is starting to gossip lol. We talk about a bunch of stuff but we don't share our personal business with other people. It's something that we've always kept between us.

I get in depression episodes about not having friends. Then realize the friends I did have were gossips or backstabbers. So what am I really missing out on? :P

That's how I am. It kills me the last girl was only "friends" with me because she had something I wanted (or so it felt) After she had the baby we NEVER talk not even a "hello" as much as I put into the relationshit. I quit with friends outside of my computer.

thats me. :) 18 kids; Edmonton, Alberta 3030 posts

Aww :( Oh man, this girl that called me her best friend for YEARS... always wanting to hang out, talk about my our relationships, my plans for my baby. Yeah, she never talked to me again after DD was born. I hate people.

And then she had the audacity to give me TTC tips and tell me how I should do things when it only took her "a couple of months" to get pregnant.

I hate them too.

Anyway, this is why I stick to this until I can find people to trust face to face.
