I think its fine to eat and drink whatever you want, just keep an eye on how it effects baby.

When I breastfed my son, eating oatmeal seemed to give him diarrhea.

It's fine. But I still limited myself to 1 cup a day or less.

The main problem with caffeine is that is dehydrates you. Just make sure your drinking plenty of water and keep an eye on LO to see how it effects him/her. Plenty of mother's drink soda and coffee while they are breastfeeding without any issues. When you have a baby sometimes you need that caffeine boost to make it through the day.

The lactation consultant I spoke with told me our bodies are very forgiving when it comes to breastfeeding.. the main thing you need to worry about are foods that could make baby gassy.

I couldn't have any caffeine when DS was a newborn because it would make him fussy and unable to sleep well but after about 4 months it stopped affecting him or he built up a tolerance or something.

I think that before 3/4 months your milk isnt fully regulated so it does affect them..

I always waited that long before I started drinking wine too lol with my first, I only had a cup of coffee every morning(as I did while pregnant) but with my second I needed more coffee lol
