I need strong advice. Surrogacy, with my own egg.. jess+2! :D 2 kids; 542 posts

I just had my son April 23rd this year. He is an absolute blessing. The bond we share already is wonderful and I couldn't imagine a single day without him. My mom's best friend, and a woman i have known my whole life has always wanted a child. She wants me to carry a baby for her. But her eggs are bad. So I'd be using my own egg. I need some insight. I haven't yet talked to her til Friday. I'm not sure what to do. It would be all legal. But even though I would be carrying 'her baby' I still feel like it would be mine because of my egg. But she has been trying so hard and so long and she discovered her having a child is impossible. I want her to have the beautiful gift of having a baby because being a mother is absolutely an incredible thing to experience. The baby would know I am the birth mother eventually down the road. But I'm scared the child will think I just willingly gave him or her up and didn't want raise it but that wouldn't be the case at all. I don't know, I'm just confused. I would still get to see the child though.

I could never use my own egg. I would carry the child but ask for an egg donor.

See, that's exactly what I would be open to as well, but the procedure is very expensive.

I'm in the process of becoming a surrogate but could never imagine using my own eggs. I'd be her carrier but I would have her make other "egg" arrangements.

This sounds like the best course of action here. I'd personally have no issues with it, I've also considered egg donation (I'm not using them so why not?) but you sound like it would cause you hurt down the road. I'd ask and see if egg donation from someone else is possible.

It is but its just not something I could do. I have a very close friend who has PCOS and a host of other issues. She has been told a hysterectomy is her only option to get rid of her symptoms (she is 25 no children) I told her I would carry for her but never use my own eggs and she is basically a sister to me. There has to be a line somewhere.

i would do it,i guess because even though its my egg i wouldn't really consider it my child... i can understand your reasoning though

Then see if she'd use donor eggs.

We can't use any donor eggs because it's too expensive. I only have the option of using my own.

Then I wouldnt be doing it. To watch my biological child being raised by someone else and to be involved in their life and to love them but not have them. Nope sorry cant do it.

She would pay for it, not you.

I think she means the lady dosent have the money.
OP where is sperm coming from? I mean IVF is still very expensive unless you're going with whole turkey baster thing.

Yeah thats what I'm not sure about. and she can't afford $15,000 to do it. she's spent a lot of money already trying to get pregnant.

It's inserting the sperm myself.
