On and off the past couple weeks I've been smelling this horrible burnt onion smell. At first I thought it was me so for like two days I all but scrubbed my freaking skin off in the shower and I still smelled it. SO swore I didn't stink. So then I thought it was something in my house, food DD had hid somewhere or something. (Bad habit of hers.) Tearing my house apart and scrubbing everything didn't get rid of the smell either. I blamed my septum ring, bought new jewelry and have been cleaning the hole a few times a day. Still smell it. SO is thinking I've lost my mind at this point because he doesn't smell it. At all. My mom and sister have been over and they didn't smell it either. I started to think I WAS losing my mind. All along I've felt like my sinuses have been clogged and they've been draining. Not once did I think the two could be related. Apparently sinus drainage can smell awful, especially if you have a sinus infection! I knew it could taste bad but I didn't know it could stink since it's never happened to me before. I'm making a doctor's appointment later and praying for some antibiotics or something because my pregnant stomach can't handle this smell anymore.

There is a point to this, I swear. Anyone know if it's okay to use a nettipot with a sinus infection? I'm wondering if washing out my sinuses with salt water will help but I don't want to make it worse either. Thoughts?

Neti pots are perfectly fine to use with an infection. Just be sure you use filtered water or distilled water. I had a horrible sinus infection my last pregnancy and my midwife told me to use one. It helped get all of the backed up mucus out. And it works.

It's a little tea pot that irrigates your nasal cavities/sinuses. I usually use it when I have a cold and I'm stuffed up. It's kind of the same concept as putting saline drops in your nose to loosen mucus but this washes everything out.

It's not bad at all! I tried it for the first time this year and it's just great. I just boil water and let it cool then add like a half teaspoon of salt.
