How long after yo started giving your baby food did they a actually start eating it? And what kind of foods did you give them in the beginning? DS is 6 months and he's been showing signs of being ready for solids for awhile now and we just started giving him food about a week ago and when they are in small pieces he has no interest in eating them yet. I know this is fine and normal. Also, it's been awhile since I've given and infant food so I can't remember what foods are a no no. Can anyone refresh my memory?
If he doesn't want the actual solids, that's fine. You can try puree if you'd like. Try 1 food every 3 days to rule out any allergies or reactions he may have to certain foods. Stay away from honey and nuts. I know a lot of Mommies try avacados first, the babies seem to like them. Also, if he doesn't seem interested in the puree food, that's okay too. He doesn't need it yet, it's just practice at this point to get him used to it.
Always try to feed him his formula/BM first, then a bite of 2 of the pureed food afterwards.
Wholesomebabyfood.com lists all the foods by age.
Just keep offering. Hell eat it when he's ready :)
DD didn't start really eating her food until about 10-11 months. We did BLW also. She hated purees.
We started with half of a banana. You can peel the peel down, and cut it off, leave about an inch or two, so their little hands can hold it. We also did steamed carrots. Just peeled and cut them in half.
