I just got an invite to my ex-co worker's daughter's 5th bday party. I haven't seen her since we both found new jobs about 9 months ago. We've talked a few times over email. Last year we both went to eachothers child's parties. This year, DH and I have pretty much decided our LO's party will just be family. So, would you go to the party even though we won't be inviting her to ours? If you would go, would you mention anything about us not doing a party this year, or what?

post and run, at work!

I would go, and when is your sons birthday? I would probably let her know you won't be having a bday party but you'd love to meet up again.

I just didn't want it to be like "I'll go to your party, but you aren't invited to mine!" type of thing, lol.

I would still go. I don't think any of my friends would be offended if they didn't get an invite in return.

I would like to go. I know LO would have a blast and I would like to see her daughter and nephew and catch up with her and another co-worker I'm sure she'll be inviting. She's going through a divorce too, so I wouldn't want to upset her for whatever reason.

It sounds like she could use the company. I'm sure it would be fine. If you are worried, you could just give her a quick call? Or when you are there, just casually mention how great the party is, and that you guys decided this year to do a small family gathering since it would be easier.

I think I'll just find a way to mention it. She'll probably be totally fine with it anyway, lol.

I'm sure it will. Some people are a little funny about things like that though, lol.
