If you threw a big 1st bday party for your LO and also for her 1st pics done, and there is going to be around 50 people there would you still buy them presents?

we had a huge party - 80 people, it was themed, so I spent a lot of time and money on decorations, food, favors, and whatnot. We didn't buy him a present. His present was the party.

I dont usually buy my kids a gift unless they ask for something specific. My daughter is 8 and son 4. Im having a joint birthday party for them tomorrow. I bought my daughter 4 pairs of vans last week for school and she said "mom this is a good birthday present, dont buy me anything else" my son is getting a bike, only cause he has been asking for one for a while.
But I didnt consider the shoes a gift, she needed them for school and its my job as her mom to provide. So I was going to ask if she wanted anything else.
If they choose no gifts we usually take them to do something they want, just us as a family.

I probably still would, but nothing too expensive since there was a lot put in to pictures and a party.
