Anyone with carpal tunnel or hand pain? (not pregnant) [JadeLee] 1 child; Minnesota 12190 posts

My hands have hurt so bad in the last week, I couldn't take it any more and went to the walk in clinic after work on Wednesday. The NP didn't touch my hands, look them over, nothing, and told me that she is going to say it is carpal tunnel since that is the most likely.
But I told her, this is not like carpal tunnel that I had when I was pregnant when my hands just fell asleep, and tingled with pain. This is JUST pain, they don't get numb or tingle at all. It gets worse when I do things, like at work when I work with my hands.

Has anyone gone through this? I am just looking for input, because every one I know that has carpal tunnel (or had and had surgery) looks at me funny when I say that my fingers don't go numb at all. Anyone have carpal tunnel and have no numbness?

I am thinking it might be RA or tendonitis or something.

Do you have a ganglion cyst? I had one buried in my wrist that's a recurrent one, because it was so large, I could barely move my hand and it was in constant pain. I immobilized it with a splint and it popped out of my tendons and there is a ton of relief now.

Well I had something similar happen to me the brushed it off as carpal but and they tried to help me but nothing alieviated the pain, so they finally did xrays and found out that I have an ulnar varience in my wrists. It's just how I was born but the funny part is the pain from it comes and goes and that was the first time it really bothered me

Ahh that sounds terrible. How did they know it was there?

I think I am going to go back in this week because if they are going to have to run tests I would rather it be done while I still have a second insurance.

I have tendinitis in my left wrist. It hurts so bad that i can only hold my daughter for a couple minutes then i have to put her down. I have had it for many years but once I had kids it really started to hurt. the doc said to wear my wrist brace but thats kind of hard to do and take care of my kids.

I think if this keeps up, I am going to ask for X-Ray's to check for arthritis or something anyway. I am on a computer daily and I can't really live like this. I also can't do patient care with the braces on.

I wonder if it is the same type of brace they give to carpal tunnel patients, because I got some. It makes it so I can't bend my wrist. It does make it really hard to function though, but it does cut some of my pain just because it is immobilizing. Naproxen (Aleve) isn't even cutting the pain at this point.

Yeah, from what I read it only gets worse. And then it can rupture, sounds like lots of fun. I guess that could be better than RA or MS which is what some things suggest I might have. I just want to cover all of my bases and get this fixed if possible.

This is after it popped out of my tendon. If you bend your wrist and you have one, there will be a lump there (It may be smaller if it's pushed into your tendons)
