Quoting * L *:" Would you choose not to use a name if it gave your child initials that spell a word or name? I'm not ... [snip!] ... to the "R" name, but it's a family name and would be nice to use. So, WWYD if the potential initials spelled a word/name?"

I don't care what my children's initials spell, as long as it isn't something like ASS..

It's not a big deal to me, never has been. I mean c**t and f**k are probably the only ones I would avoid, but ass or tit isn't that bad. My daughters first and last name initials are HO, HAMO all together.

There's an old wives tale that your initials make out a word then you will be well of with money.

My little sisters initials spelled HAM. I was a mean ship when I was little, and would call her "ham" and oink at her.

I don't think it really matters, though!

Ok, so general consensus is bad words (like ASS) are a no-go, but everything else isn't that bad? Good deal. Thanks for all the replies ladies :D

I don't care at all. Most people don't even know my middle name, nonetheless all my initials, and I'm 25, haha. It's just not something that's brought up often. Whatever I liked, I'd use.
My mom wanted my middle name to be Faith, but decided not to use it because then my initials would have been KFC, haha. I wouldn't have cared though. I like it better than the middle name she actually gave me.

DS's initial's are SMH...which my dad of all people tease him for lol But I don't see a problem with spelling out a name/word with initials. My mom's spell out CAM (it's also been CAD and CAS) and there's nothing weird about it...people don't call her that, they just all her by her name.

DD #1's initials were almost COW. Which would have been cool, because dh is a dairy farmer. But obesity runs in dh's side of the family and all I could think of was kids making fun of dd if she was heavyset.
