Yeah, this is a good resource website, but it's a website. I wouldn't go so far to claim it as the official dictionary of names.

It's an etymology site. Meaning it's a recognized study of language and naming and the history of those things. http://www.etymonline.com/

Depends how you want to pronounce it! Eidon would be pronounced EYE din and Eden is EEEE din.......so you decide.
I went to 200000 names, and Eidon does not come up as a name, however it does show several products with that name. soooo, go for it. But spelling it Eidon would be EYE din. and it would be wonderful for a boy.
