To have contractions and them not pick up on the monitor? I can feel my stomach harden/tighten then let go, even my husband can and they're quite gut wrenching unlike BHC...but they don't pick up on the monitor... The nurse just checked me and said I was "kind of closed still," wtf does that mean? And she said my cervix is "pretty thick" which I know it's been 70% effaced since Friday :/ I don't consider 30% of cervix "pretty thick..." I'm starting to wish I had never changed hospitals...

I'm not sure. I always figured they would show up on a monitor.

Yes they would show up a monitor since thats what monitors are made for.

I'm a doula and gave been with about 20 women so far and two of the were in full blown active labor, well dilated and admitted and yet the contractions didn't show up at all on the monitors do I know for sure it's possible. Both women had a baby with a posterior position so it may have something to do with that. As far as different interpretations of your cervix goes, that's not uncommon at all since it is a little subjective

It is possible I know when I was in hard core labor my contractions were unbearable but the monitor didn't pick them up with both my kids they would have to move it around until they could pick them up so maybe just try to move the monitor a little

I too had to move the monitor around a bit to get them to register.
