Quoting Bangtail:" <blockquote><b>Quoting Bob Loblaw _tko_:</b>" Television shows are not public school ... [snip!] ... flavor flav show with all his baby mamas because it perpetuated negative stereotypes about black people. Double-standard, much?"

I don't stay up to date on that kind of thing, I've never even watched that honey boo boo thing, but I do know what it's about. I'm not saying it's not a possible double standard, but that's a completely different beast.

I just don't think anything like that belongs in the schools. What's wrong with good old fashioned twin day and pajama day? In my high school I think we had twin day, pajama day, backwards day and class color day, I can't remember what the other one was. We had a lot of fun with them without mocking an entire subculture of fellow Americans.

We had cowboy day, a day where you dressed like the opposite sex (which was hilarious), etc... My favorite was future career day because the kids in my school always jokingly called it Pimps Up Hoes Down day and some of us would be pimps and others would be their hoes. I didn't get all pissy thinking they were objectifying women.

Redneck Day sounds all-around inappropriate for school to me. Not because of civil rights or anything so much, but because it has zero to do with learning. Same with pajama day and other stuff like that. No reason for any of it, it's just a distraction.

Eh, my kids wear uniforms to school every day with the exception of the Halloween parade which is 10 minutes at the beginning of the day.

Don't know, but people around here have that shit on the flagpole in front of their home... No one really seems to even blink about seeing the confederate flag here.

It annoys the hell out of me, though.

Whether or not it is beneficial to learning, does it really require a federal investigation?

So, calling southern white people rednecks is cool, but confederate flags annoy you?

No, no. I don't agree with that. Guess I should have elaborated more.
