What do you do, when you are at the store, and your toddler starts throwing a temper tantrum? DS started all out screaming because he wanted to get a second copy of Toy Story, and I said no. Screaming so hard, he was turning red. DH just took him to the car, and waited for me. What do you do when you are alone, and your child acts like tat, but you aren't done shopping yet?

Walk away, pick them up and stick in the cart, or babywear. I won't engage with the child at all. But I shop quickly and get out soon as I can.

Depended on how close to done I was.

If I had almost everything, I'd just finish and let them scream. Kids scream, it happens.

If I had a lot more to do, I'd peace out and go again later.

We leave. Only because I get so flustered I forgot what to buy, lol. Thankfully she doesn't throw tantrums too often

Thankfully we haven't had a huge ordeal, but I'll give him something off the shelf to play with and when we go to check out, I just leave it there, lol.

I would find a place for a time out. I wouldn't wait or stop my trip to go to the car. I'd remind them once that stores have corners too and if they don't stop, everyone will see them crying in the corner and she probably wouldn't like it.

i ignore the temper tantrum. if im by myself and i still need to shop people can stare all they want. its the attention my boys want so they wont get it. otherwise they will learn if i dont want to be some where i can scream and yell and we will leave

Keep shopping and yell, "You just wait until your mom hears about this!" that way everyone will just think I'm the nanny and not judge me. 8)

I'd go somewhere to help LO calm down. There's nothing wrong with being upset or having a tantrum, it's age appropriate, but I don't think it's polite to just let them scream in the middle of the store where other people are shopping. So I'd go to a more private area or to the car etc to help LO calm down, tell him/her that you understand that it's hard to not get what you want sometimes but not give into it. I have just left in the past though, even I wasn't ready to.

I discipline the same way at home as I do in public. He knows being in public isn't his free pass to act a fool.

He was in the shopping cart already. Normally, I just let him yell, but this was an all out scream this time.

Trip to the bathroom I would say. Simply and to the point. There is no need to flip out kids need to learn to control them self.
