Ok so, if it gets legalized and your children start smoking, vaping, eating, what have you when they are not living in your house anymore what are you going to do?

Not allow them to do it in my home or show up high. I won't want to be around it even for my children. They can go without it for a bit when I do visit them. I will hope they are being safe (not driving while high, knowing who they are buying from and not putting themselves in danger by buying weed laced with dangerous chemicals or from someone that could hurt them).

But if it's legal then how is it any different than the glass of wine you have at dinner?
Alcohol is still a drug legal or not. So if MJ is legal it's no different than your glass of wine.
It IS possible to smoke and not get fucked up just as it's possible to drink a glass of wine and not get even tipsy.

If they ask me to not have a drink around them I will not. Cigarettes are legal too, however if someone can't respect me asking them to go a few hours without it then there is a problem. My parents have smoked most of their lives (my dad since he was 13). But when I smoked they asked me to not smoke in front of them because it wasn't something they wanted to see me do, it upset them. I didn't because I have respect enough for my parents. I hope my children have enough respect for me when they get older they can go without their weed for a few hours (I don't plan on living with my children and hope they don't plan on living with me forever). I am against weed for the people in my life for personal reasons.

I have said it several times, I do not think every person who smokes weed is bad, irresponsible, etc. I hope I am never in the situation to ask my kids to not smoke weed aroound me. I know more people who have never tried it and have no interest than have tried it and not done it again (most of the people I know are military affiliated so weed is a big no-no on your drug test you may get surprised with). I feel the same way about cigarettes.

I think that doesn't matter. I won't allow people to smoke in my house. Ciggs or pot. I also do not allow drinking in my home. People in my home are guests and will abide by my rules or not come over.

I haven no issue with people smoking pot. A lot of my family does it. However, I don't allow it in my home. I can think things should be legal without liking them much or wanting to do them or have them in my home.

There is this idea that pot is magical and can do no wrong. That IMO is a bad argument. People can screw up with pot much like other things. It CAN be bad, and for some people it IS bad, just like alcohol and lots of other legal things. If people try to act like there is no downside, then getting it legalized is that much harder because that isn't realistic.

Sorry, I think my last post came out wrong. Not smoking in her house is fine. If I wasn't a smoker I wouldn't allow any type of smoke in my house either (I only smoke weed in my house and that's after the kids are in bed with windows open and if it's more than just me we go outside).
But what would you do/say if they came over a little high.
Not so high that they were "under the influence" but you could tell they had taken a hit or two before coming over?

I would hope that they would respect my wishes that they not be under the influence of weed in my home. I have the same rules for coming in tipsy or buzzing (not quite drunk but you can tell they had been drinking). Unless my children needed marijuana for medicinal uses then I don't want to see them under the influence. I would never deny them being able to use edibles (I HATE the smell so I don't think vaping would be okay either) if it helped cure them of a severe medical ailment. My friend's dad is dying or prostate cancer and he uses edibles and it seems to really help his pain.

Hmmm, I guess I can understand this.
So just curious, would you go over to a persons house if you knew they had been smoking but were fine with stopping before you came over and not doing it while you were there?

If it smells like weed, not unless I had no choice but to go there.

So is it just the smell for you?
I can't believe yo don't like the smell  I loved the smell even before I started smoking...
I guess to each their own but that's actually one of the main reasons I started lol.

So if they vaped ( I don't THINK it has a smell to it) or made it edible you would go over there?

I would prefer not to be around it at all, but I guess as long as they weren't high off their ass I would try it once.

If I could tell their behavior was "high?" I'd ask them to leave. No different then if I could tell they'd been drinking. If I couldn't tell, then I wouldn't know, so I wouldn't care.

I hate the smell too. *gag*

Both my Dad and my step-dad smoke pot and I hate the smell. It isn't a huge deal to me or anything, but I don't like the smell, and if their house smelled like it I wouldn't want to go over. For me, basically, if you're acting under the influence of anything basically I probably don't really want to be around you.

I could be sensitive, given my Dad is an alcoholic, so I spent my childhood seeing him drunk. Never mean drunk, but obviously intoxicated. I don't want to see that with any sort of recreational drug. The only difference would be if someone used it because they needed to for medicinal purposes. Then I could deal with the "side effects" better.
