Will not crawl. When he's in his pack and play he shows interest. He'll roll on his tummy move his legs and lift his head but when you place him on his tummy on the floor where there's more space he'll cry.

We just bought him a walker yesterday and he moves backwards and enjoys it so maybe he'll walk before he crawls.

My older two began crawling pretty early 5-7 months and my oldest walked at 9 months.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much from my baby but my hope was that he began walking by a year or before the baby is born.

What can I do to help promote him to began crawling/walking?

How old were your LOs when they began crawling and walking? Did your LO go straight to walking and skipped crawling?

he will when he is ready but he needs more time on the floor as im sure you know. but a walker could hinder his crawling along with walking... its valuable time he should be spending on the floor.

Walkers arent the best. Too many accidents with them and they can make them walk on their tip toes assuming you got one of the old fashioned ones. The ones they just push aren't bad though. And my son crawled at 6 months walked at 13 months. My daughter crawled at 10 months and walked at 13 months

My daughter NEVER crawled. She just up and walked at nine months. Maybe your son will be the same way. All I can say is don't force him. He will do it during his own time. :)

Mine didnt want to crawl either. She would only do it on the bed or the couch. She HATED the floor.

Don't force it. He will crawl on his own time when he's ready. If you're really concerned, I guess you could maybe look into a place like we have here. First steps which helps kids that have delays in any area and get him working with a physical therapist. My youngest niece is doing that right now because she is 7 months and is JUST now rolling over from her tummy to her back. I wouldn't stress yet. I was told to not even worry about crawling till after the baby passes 9 months. He's still got a month to catch up. My oldest didn't start crawling until after he was 9 months and I discussed my concern with his pedi. He was walking by 11 months. My middle child crawled at 7 months and walked by a year. My third was crawling at 6 months and walking by 11 months. They learn at their own individual speed. You can't depend on every child to follow what your previous child did. It just doesn't work that way.
