That is my child's name, it feel right, you're just in love with it, fits with your last name.

That how I feel about the name Dante. I love it, fun yet adult. Commonly know yet not current trend (where I am at lest)

SO and our families hate it, mine say it is a "black name" and SO says it to heavy for a little boy.

How do I get him to love it like I do?

I'm not sure. If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. Dante kinda reminds me of Andre. Neither name is super common.

I had the same problem. I cried about it actually. Dh actually came around to the name I felt was meant to be dd's name. He loves it now, and thanks me for talking both of us out of our original choice. I never cared about what our families thought. Eventually they come around to the name, or shut up about hating it at least.

I don't like Donte... But it's not horrible either. My friend named her so Mathis and he was the ugliest baby and not a cute little boy so I think that doesn't help my opinion. I felt that way with the name Simon before I actually new ds was a boy. As soon as the u/s tech said boy I immediately hated it though lol.

Not sure how Dante is a "black name.'' Tell them to stuff it or just don't share your name choices with them anymore.

Maybe suggest a softer nickname your SO could call him if he doesn't like Dante when he's younger.. For example, Donny/Danny. That's the only thing I can think of. Goodluck!
