so confused.... gilmommy86 TTC since May 2012; 50 kids; Everett, Washington 10 posts29th Jul
So this will be my third pregnancy in a year that doesn't end in a baby. I had a mc last august ar 13 weeks, with no explanation from the dr. Then another mc in march at 11 weeks. Again.....no explanation. Both of those pregnancies, my hcg was rising perfectly and I had numerous ultrasounds where I saw the heart beat. This time, at 7 weeks, I have a blighted ovum, in other words, a yolk sac but no baby. I'm so so frustrated. I have two healthy boys at home. So I know that I can carry babies. All of their tests they hav run on me have come back normal. I've had ultrasounds on my uterus and ovaries. Thry say they're fine. Thr only thing that I can think of that they neglected to test on all 3, is my progesterone levels. Is there anything else that anyone can think of that I'm missing??

I'm so sorry. :( A blighted ovum would not be related to progesterone levels. What tests did they run?

Sorry, I should've been more clear lol The blighted ovum was random, and I don't think it is related to the first two. I'm bummed about the blighted ovum, even though there was nothing I could do about it. The other two were the ones that I am thinking that there might be progesterone deficiency. I am wanting to cover my bases when I do get pregnant again and get all the tests done. My dr. is putting me on progesterone asap the next time around, but I am wondering if there is anything else I should have tested that I didn't think of or that maybe the dr. didn't think of. Thank you! :)

I questioned the very same thing. My RE did an RPL panel and everything came back normal except insulin resistance but after my 3rd early loss I was convinced we were missing something. My MFM agreed but didn't order any additional testing. I asked my OB about it and she said that wasn't her department and to go back to my RE. I got a new OB and asked her about it and she finally looked at my previous RPL results and said immediately, "Oh. You were never tested for clotting disorders." Yeeaaap, compound hetero for MTHFR.
BTW after that 3rd loss I decided to take baby aspirin throughout my 4th pregnancy and I finally made it to the 2nd trimester. I lost her too but that was due to incompetent cervix. Baby aspirin is a kind of "cure all" for a lot of things that cause repeat miscarriages.
