Okay, a little bit of a "what the fuck" question, but it actually isn't completely hypothetical. It's not about me, or anyone really close to me, but it actually is a real situation.

Your husband had a previous daughter who was murdered by her stepfather. Your husband talks about killing the murderer when he gets out of jail. You had always thought it was just talk, but you discover him and a friend of his have actual written down plans to kill this man when he is released. What do you do?

Turn them in to the police and find a divorce lawyer? Lol

Tell him you will call the cops yourself to prevent him from doing it. He needs to realize he can't leave his family like that when he gets sent to prison- and HE WILL get caught.

Uh...... Run fast and far away

Really though- I'd make copies of whatever these plans are (and hide them) and tell him that if he's serious, you'll have no choice but to warn the cops, etc.

And then still, run... because you could be next.

Appeal to his rational side (leaving you, going to jail, etc) and help him find a therapist to deal with his anger. If that didn't work, call the police as it's better for him to get "help" from the law NOW compared with a sentence for murder.

Wow. I cannot blame him for wanting his child's killer gone from this world. I think you need to have a serious discussion with him and his friend. He needs to burn the written down plans and get that thought out of his head;especially if he has other children that need him.

I would remind him of everything he is risking losing by going through with anything like that. I understand he probably has a lot of anger (justifiably so). Has he been through counseling?

I would try to talk I'm out of it, and probably call the police and tell them what he's planning if he didn't listen.

I would totally understand why he would do it though.

Why would the wife be next? He wants revenge, he doesn't have plans to become a serial killer.

I was sort of on the fence....but after watching so many true crime shows...this is the most logical thing to do. It would still worry me if it was something he was just talking about...but to actually write it out and plan it out, that's taking it to another level that I would not be comfortable with knowing about. I can honestly comprehend his situation and feeling the way he does. I think anyone who deliberately harms a child should never be allowed to be free again, but that is why we have a justice system. He already served his time, unfortunately.

:!: this!!

It's totally understandable why he wants the guy dead. I don't understand why a lot of people are saying run away or divorce.

No one probably thought he would be capable of planning out a murder, either. I mean they can sure as hell say, "well if I were you I'd kill the sob" and leave it at that... but to take it that next step, actually have a plan to take someone else's life...I sure as fuck wouldn't want to be in the, so to say, 'way' of his plan. That's what I got from her comment.

Me either. I'd stick by my husband and get him into intense therapy. This man's daughter was very viscously murdered. How'd you feel if that happened to your baby? Add on to that, your spouse divorces you for not handling it very well...
