Spontaneous bruising... IDGAF ❤ 1 child; San Diego, CA, United States 30523 posts

So lately I get some pretty nasty bruises on my legs for no reason. I will feel pain like the pain you feel when someone touches an already formed bruise but nothing is there and the day, I will have a HUGE bruise for no reason. Now, I have always bruised easily because of my bleeding disorder but this is something completely new. Idk if I should worry about it or not. I mean I know it's more likely to happen with my disorder but I just find it weird that out of nowhere this is happening for no reason.

I get random bruises because I'm anemic. I don't know if that helps at all?

I am usually Anemic as well. So hmm maybe it is just a funky thing with my blood.

you should definitely talk to your doctor about it especially if you already have a illness related to this. I'm not much help on why it would be happening but it doesn't sound like anything to brush off.

Thanks for your input. I will talk to my hematologist about it.

It's probably low iron, however that's also a sign of certain cancers, so it's worth talking to a doctor about. Not to freak you out.

Really? Blood-based cancers or some cancers in general? I've never heard that.

I've heard about breast cancer and lukemia, being found after noticing random bruising.

Oh, wow. Well, my iron generally hovers around 9 even when not pregnant, so I'm not going to jump the gun and worry about cancer myself yet lol. I get bruising around my joints and on my hip bones all the time. Sometimes pretty painful ones.

9 is low, so I'm betting that's what it's from. And it's pretty common.

0.o ok I will. I thought it was as well, so that's why I felt worried at first about it. But I remembered that it could be because of my bleeding disorder or my connective tissue disorder. I just found it odd because I never had that issue before, I mean I have always bruised easily but never spontaneously.

I had a bloodclot in my lung a yr and a half ago. I've been getting random bruising as well. I'm not even on the bloodthinners anymore

When I took prozac, I would have bruises all over like I was beaten. I mean I got a bruise for everything! never remembered where it came from usually.
Now I don't take it and I don't bruise unless I do something serious that I definitely remember.
So if you take any medication or antidepressants that may be a side effect.
