And I don't want to hear, "anything is too much". Anyways.. I'm EBF Mmy 8 week old DD and tomorrow is my 21st birthday. Booo I can't go all out, but I'm not too worried. I am going to go to lunch and dinner with my mom and hunny and order myself a drink because I can lol. I figure I'll taste test and let them drink them for me.. DD is breastfed on demand I kn ow they say, "if you're good to drive you're good to nurse", but eh I don't drive for one and I know even one dribk I would be trashed. Anyways.. since I'll only be sipping, when would you stop? When you get that buzzed feeling? Or before? Tia

I would feed her before you guys go out or right before you get your drink and then stop when you are a tad bit buzzed that way it will have time to ware off. I think only you know your limits so one can't say "x amount is to much for you" everyone's body/ body type is different.

Alcohol leaves the breast milk at about the same rate that it leaves your bloodstream, so you could feed her beforehand, have the drink or two and just wait at least one hour per drink for it to leave your system. And yes, you can get buzzed as long as you wait the hour per drink before you feed her. And if you did have to feed her after having a beer, its not going to hurt her. I could see if you were plastered but obviously you're not going to get that drunk. Happy bday : )

you'd have to get really hammered for it to affect your baby! My suggestion is to nurse your baby before you go out and go have your drink! Enjoy it! Hell you could have two if you wanted! Then nurse your baby when you get home. You'll be out for atleast an hour or two, so having one or two drinks is totally fine! You will not hurt your baby or get her drunk if you have a drink with lunch!

maybe even nurse baby before you go out and have a bottle of pumped milk to take out with you, then you can have a couple of drinks and know that the baby has a bottle if you're worried about the alcohol being in the milk. I have a drink on occasions and as long as i dont feel tipsy then im okay to BF my DS

i read somewhere that its okay to have one or two drinks but to wait 3 hours before nursing again. just make sure you drink plenty of water right after and you should be fine. one study showed that 1% of the alcohol gets into the breast milk.
i do agree with trying to nurse your baby before and try to pump milk out for after.

I had a drink on my birthday and nursed her right after. They put so little alcohol in it that I didn't even get a buzz off of 2 daiquiris it must have been half a shot of rum in each one (happy hour) and I sipped them so slow nothing happened. Order a mixed drink and you should be perfectly fine.
