Smells like spoiled milk? kthx. Due January 13 (girl); Cleves, Ohio 66692 posts

I have NO IDEA where this smell is coming from... but it's making me sick to my stomach. I've come home from work the past few nights and my apartment smells like spoiled milk. Like, really spoiled milk.

I do have a cat.. but his litter box is clean. I've taken out the trash. The trash can isn't dirty. I don't have any spoiled milk (derp  ). There are no dishes in the sink, nor in the dishwasher. I don't have a kid, so there's no sippy cups/bottles hidden anywhere. I don't leave food/drinks laying out (at least not opened ones) or else my cat will knock it over. I don't have hard water so it's not the water. I don't smoke in my apartment, and SO doesn't smoke. I can't think of a single thing it could be.

I feel like I'm going crazy. SO has noticed it. For a few days it smelled like baby powder.. and now it's turned to spoiled milk.

Does it smell almost like rotten eggsish?
If so, it could be drains and you'll need to get some draino, and then a few days later use bleach.

ikr. We had one fall out of the bag & it sat in the back of the cupboard for who knows how long. By the time we figured out where the smell was from the potato was completly rotten & disgusting

It's funny, because I was gonna suggest that. This happened to us. We started getting nats in the house like mad and I could NOT figure out why. My SIL came over one day and was like, "it smells like bad potatoes in here." And I was like....... I'd forgotten ALL about this huge bag that I'd put in a bottom cabinet (don't normally keep food there, but it wouldn't fit anywhere else). Sure 'nuff, there were nats covering it, sprouts and everything. BLEK.

I tossed 'em out when I came home lol. I have a candle burning so hopefully that helps. I hate buying bags of potatoes because I forget they're down in the cabinet :x I don't use them for many things since SO will only eat flake potatoes. So I buy them for one thing.. and then they go bad lol.

Ew. Rotten potatoes are so gross smelling. I did the same thing once. Left them in the bottom of our pantry. Came back from an extended weekend and thought something died in the house. lol. It was THAT bad. So gross..
