How much bleeding is too much. Tmi. AbbieChrysler3312 32 kids; Ohio 1041 posts

My daughter is 6w1d. I was spotting from birth up until 3 days ago i believe i started my period..its really heavy and small clots.. i have filled 3 pads since 9pm last night. I did have the mirena iud inserted a week and a day ago, not sure of that has something to do with it..and ive been having pretty bad cramping too.
I called my midwife, waiting for a call back. But im not sure if this is okay or if its too much bleeding because I'm also really tired and i think its bc of how much bleeding ive been having.
Anyone have advice? its really freaking me out.
Thanks

The general rule is that you need to be filling 2 pads per hour. 3 in 12 hours doesn't sound like it fits in that category. My first PP period was always horribly heavy and gross without birthcontrol and with. It did seem to get more normal within a couple of months, but my period is still heavier now than before I had kids. The mirena could be stirring things up, but even without that the 1st pp period is pretty gross and heavy.
