Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease? MunchkinWrangler 4 kids; Rīga, Latvia 46773 posts

So my 4 & 5 year old have HFMD. They both have blisters all over the insides of their cheeks that are very painful, and my daughter has a rash on her wrists/feet that she claims is itchy. I'm giving them Benedryl, Motrin, ice water and popsicles. Anything else I can do?

Im really hoping my 16 month old does not have it. He won't let me see inside his mouth well enough to tell. He's acting normal, though. No rashes.

I'm curious how long this virus is contagious. Doctor said to just keep them out of daycare until Monday as long as they are fever-free... but I'm worried because I am going to have this baby any day now and I don't want this baby to get it! Plus, I want my kids to be able to come to the hospital to see the baby when it's born... so how do I know they're safe?

Sounds like you're doing what you can... It usually lasts about 7 days or so. Hopefully it's gone before the new baby gets here.

Quoting MunchkinWrangler:" I really hope I don't get it. It sounds miserable... and I don't want to get it and pass it to the baby when they are born. We'd be one miserable household!"

Yes you would be!
