My son is 17 months old and his first dentist appointment is tommorow. What should I expect ? What do they do? TIA
For my kids they looked in their mouths. Brushed their teeth, gave them new tooth brushes, talked to the kids and make them comfortable, and told us any concerns they might have (my son has a slight underbite I think it was and an attached upper lip). If there are any problems they'll bring that up, if not it's more to look at them and get the kids used to it.
The technique depends on the doctor, actually. My daughter has seen 3, she is 18 months old. But generally, they will ask you to hold your baby and they will take a peek with a mirror and a pic... Pretty fast since kids aren't very good at sitting still. If it is someone who is good with kids, it should be the most gentle thing in the world. Good luck!
They asked about his diet habits, if we brushed his teeth, gave him a tooth brush and let him brush a bit and we were out. He was 15 1/2 months.
