Hello.. soo DD 2 just broke out in bumps around her mouth and chin with redness after eating some Boars head turkey... This happened a while ago with bacon twice from 2 different places so now we don't give her Pork bacon. I read that it usually isn't the meat itself but the curing/smoking process and nitrates of the bacon... Boars head is supposed to be top of the line and it was oven roasted not smoked. Anyway...anyone elses kid have this type of reaction to any meats?? What is the food allergy testing like? It doesn't seem to bother her in the slightest just freaks me out a bit. THANK YOU!

My Mom used to get seizures and the Doctors could never figure out why, until my dad and I realized she only had a seizure after she ate bacon, ham or lunch meat. The nitrates in the meat were causing her seizures. She stopped eating that stuff and the seizures went away. She could definitely be having a reaction to the nitrates in the meat. I don't know what the allergy testing will be like, but I would definitely take her in to see if that is the problem.

Poor baby :(

Hopefully it won't bother her as much as you think it will. I thought all cured meats have nitrates. I could be wrong though.

That is very true. I see a lot of people here from Michigan and Wisconsin. I moved here 6 years ago.

Hey. Sorry for posting this reply so late. I started it and had to leave lol. Anyway, both my daughter and my son had allergy tests done. They were 3 and 1 at the time. They were tested for many things at once (mostly trees and grasses) and neither one of them cried. This was a few years ago, but I think allergy testing for young children might be less painful than it is for adults. Gentler process or something. If your daughter handled her blood work fairly well, the allergy testing would probably be a breeze for her. Keep us updated on if you decide to proceed and what her experience was.

Btw: that is so awesome that both of your names are Sherry, you're both from Michigan and you're BOTH in Arizona! You guys should totally meet up and go for coffee or something!!!! :)

Awww....I wanna go too :(
Lol
