Jesus worship is wrong Minion Due September 30 (girl); 2 kids; ., GA, United States 21277 posts

DH is the only Christian I know who thinks Jesus worship is wrong.

He says the Commandment says Have no other Gods before me (God). He says People are putting much more emphasis in Jesus than God and God has become an afterthought.

He said most praise songs are about Jesus and it shouldn't be that way either. He says Jesus should be revered but not worshipped.

Thoughts?

I think it is wrong too. But then again, I also think that it's wrong to worship/pray to saints, the virgin mary, and all that other jazz

If I were to be a Christian (I'm an atheist), I would think that the only one you should worship is God. Jesus was a prophet.

Depends on where you stand with the Holy Trinity. I believe that Jesus is God. Others, like mormons, do not think Jesus is God.

The reason I think that? I have a few, but I'll just use one (I'm about to leave the house, excuse my post and run...)

God called himself the I Am. In the book of John, I believe, Jesus was talking to a Jew and told him, "Before Abraham was, I AM." Holy smokes. That Jew probably fell off his seat, Jesus in that moment just called Himself God. Either he was straight up nuts, a liar, or really God. I choose God.

He's Methodist. I don't know much about Methodists, but he may be an oddball in that thought.

DH believes Jesus was a prophet, purely human, but also sent by God.

The father, the son, the holy spirit... all one in the same.

This was explained to me using a triangle years ago.

Most Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God, so not just a prophet. The Holy Trinity is what one's supposed to pray to I believe.

It really just depends on who you ask.

When I attended, all the songs were about God. I do not remember one about Jesus, but it was Methodist, so idk if that makes a difference.

Also, I never got the "worship" feeling with Christ, more of a reverence for all he stood for.

But I'm not very religious

Yeah, christians believe that Jesus is the son of God. I feel like it's all one in the same, like the others mentioned the holy trinity, it's all the same thing.

Oh and they never placed any significance on Mary where we went.

Kinda odd.

I'm trying to think but the only songs I can remember are the old wooden cross (i think) and amazing grace.
