Quoting 6 blessings so far....:" Key word in Christianity ..... ''Christ'' . You cannot have Christianity w/o Jesus since he is the Christ. Most churches do have nice pens though :)"

I didn't want to be worshiping Jesus more than God.

It's Christianity because Christ is supposedly the one who preached it and then was martyred for it. It isn't named Christianity because he's the one who needs to be worshiped the most.

Right!
I'm not Christian and I believe this.
God created everything and has the master plan for everything. He is greater than Jesus, even if no one wants to believe it. There are things he knows that Jesus does not know.

I believe if you're going to be in that religion, you should worship God above Jesus.

Thankfully DH agrees with me so we don't clash much lol.

Except Catholics don't worship Mary, at least not in the same way as God :)

And to awnser the op.

Some see God Jesus and Holy Spirit as One.
Example a tree, it was base limbs, leaves. Or a triangle with three points, etc.

Of course its wrong. Jesus said worship the One true god. Jehovah's witnesses believe you cant worship him either (though they still do, by HAVING to pray in his name).

They are the same, so it makes no difference to me. When I pray though, I usually say I'm praying to the Lord Jesus Christ, not God, but again, all the same to me, I don't think either is wrong.

DH on the other hand almost feels the opposite of your DH. It's not like he doesn't like people saying God, but it does irk him when people are talking about "God this" and "God that" because he feels like there's power in the name Jesus and that is what people should say. He says he also thinks it's more significant because a lot of people are more than willing to say God but are embarrassed or ashamed to say the name Jesus in public, so he thinks it shows your faith more that you aren't afraid to say his name to/around other people. I don't see the difference myself, since they're all the same being... I think just praying in general is enough for God/Jesus/Holy Spirit. :)

I'm not a Christian but I don't see how it's wrong. In the denomination that I grew up in they believe that Jesus is God.

From an outsider's perspective, it seems that way. Mary, Jesus, God, and then all of the saints.

That's where my comment came from. I also have more knowledge of older church history than I do current. Veneration of the Virgin was discussed and rebelled against more than prayer to God or Jesus...along with transubstantiation and idolatry but that's an entirely different discussion.

Jesus is God in human form.

Since you say your SO is a Christian then I assume he believes the Holy Bible. So here is my Biblical proof. :)

1) The angels tell us this when Jesus is born in Isaiah 9:6 "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, Everlasting FATHER, Prince of Peace.

2) The apostle Paul told us CoLossians 1:19 that in Jesus " all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell"

3) Jesus himself says in John 10:30..." I and the Father are one."

So since Jesus is God, then we aren't putting another God before Him.

He is called the Son of God simply because Mary was impregnated by the Holy Spirit, which is God in a third form. This is stated in Luke 1:35

In Christianity you are to worship & reverence God, Jesus & The Holy Spirit the same because they are all essences of ''The One True God''.... if you don't want to believe in the ''Trinity'' then there are plenty of other faiths to try :)

He doesn't really believe everything in the Bible either though.

I wonder if he is technically Christian. Or maybe just really liberal.

Sounds like his line of beliefs matches up better w/the Jewish religion than w/Christianity.

Going to church and participating in Christian traditions doesn't make someone a Christian. The Bible is specific in what it means to be a Christian. Maybe your SO should read the details of that to determine for sure what he believes and why he believes it. Salvation is a very personal thing.
