My daughter will be three Monday.
Last night at about 11:30 my SO and I were watching a movie and all the sudden could barely hear her crying (she was sleeping in her bed down the hall). We both went to check on her and she was still laying in the same position from the last time I checked on her and we noticed she was still asleep, but she was crying, tears and all. Not like screaming crying, it was a tired cry... but she has never done that before.
I woke her up to try to calm her down and asked if she had a bad dream and she shook her head yes, but I'm not sure if she knows what a "bad dream" is. So, daddy loved on her and laid with her until she fell back asleep.

Have any of you experienced this with your toddler? Do you think it was a bad dream or maybe night terrors (I think that's how you spell it.) I don't know anything about those though, so I'm not sure...

If I remember correctly night terrors are when they have a really bad dream that they can't wake up from. My son used to get them really bad to the point where he would cry and scream and get out of bed, trying to get out of the room.

He still cries sometimes in his sleep and laughs and all that but he doesn't ever remember them.

Yeah it's normal. DD has done it before a few times. Just a bad dream. Sometimes she laughs, like full on cracking up in her sleep too. It's the cutest thing ever.

Maybe that's what it was then because at first she wouldn't wake up.. it took me a few minutes to actually get her up and calm her down.

Ok.. It made me feel so bad. But she smiles in her sleep a lot too, which is really cute.
