Chicken n dumplings. Redneck Mamma North Carolina 8746 posts

So my friend decided she was going to make chicken n dumplings for the first time ever and she asked me how I make them. I have always used a whole chicken so I have to ask, will it work using boneless skinless chicken breast? She is also using bisquick to make dumplings because she likes fluffy dumplings. I use the Anne's flat frozen dumplings or make my own I hate fluffy dumplings but I don't like soggy bread in general.

Is her's going to turn out alright? I told her she needs to buy chicken stock since she isn't using anything with a bone in it.

I use chicken breast, boil them, shred them, make my dumpling mix, and use the broth from the boiled chicken breast. Tastes effin' delicious!

My mom uses chicken thighs and boils them. She takes the chicken out and rips it up and puts it back in the chicken stock. We use canned biscuits for our dumplings. We just break them off and toss them in the stock with the chicken while it's boiling.

I just cut up a whole chicken and boil it.

2-3 cans of cream of chicken, my dumplings and the chicken shredded up. Thats how I have always made mine.. even if I didn't have a whole chicken I would use chicken that had bones in them.

it'll pretty much turn out flavorless with no bones or dark meat. I've tried that before.

bisquick... I've made it that way before. They don't turn out fluffy... they turn out MUCH more dense..... almost like noodle balls than dumplings.

I've tried it multiple ways... and I quit trying to mess with my recipe lol

I cook a whole chicken, pull bones out, skim off the fat from the top, bring to a boil. I use refrigerated roll dough... pull small pieces off, roll in seasoned flour and drop into pot when it has a rolling boil. When all dumplings float, I pour in a little whole milk or heavy cream (depending on what I have in fridge) and serve. yum

I use boneless, skinless chicken breast.. I boil the chicken til its cooked all the way through, take the breast and shred it into small pieces. I leave a little bit of the water I boiled the chicken in, in the pot but drain out the rest and put 2 cans of swansens chicken broth in it. Put the chicken pieces back in, bring it to a boil then add the dumplings.
