So 3 weeks after I had my baby me and my fiance became sexually active. I went to my doctor and she gave me some birth control pills. I started taking them right away! Well 2 weeks into it I started my period. A REALLY HEAVY PERIOD!!!! It's been a week and I'm still bleeding extremely heavy. I thought I was suppose to start my period with the last 5 pills. My question is should I stop taking them and continue when my period finally stops or should I continue taking the pills?

It takes a month for the pill to begin working. Generally, you are supposed to start taking the pill AFTER you finish a cycle. You are using another form of contraceptive right?

My guess would be your body is trying to regulate to the pills. trying to get use to them. I was on one birth control where if i didn't take them at the exact time everyday i would start my period. so i switched. really just give your body time to adjust then if it happens again next month i would talk to your doctor

Well no we aren't using any other form of birth control. But we havent been able to have sex since I started taking the pill my period is to heavy. I'll give it another month and see if it works. I knew I was suppose to take them right after a cycle but my doctor said it was okay to start taking them now since I had just stopped my postpartum bleeding
