Quoting ~Preggersto#1~:" My biggest concern was they wouldn't tell her if she was having a miscarriage or if it was just her uterus thinning out or what."

There is no way for them to know that

I went to the ER several times for bleeding and all they could say was that I might be miscarrying, or I might not be, and to get in touch with my OB

But they can't really tell her. They could do an examination and her cervix is closed, but then it may not have opened yet.

Her usual gp that she sees an order her the blood tests.

When I had a miscarraige ( the time i actually bled) the clots were the size of the palm of my hand. Is she only getting a few small clots here and there when she wipes or is she full on bleeding and clotting? Then again, I've also miscarried and had no idea because it was a missed miscarraige.

It confuses me how a baby's life means nothing, even at that early : / I mean at 8 weeks we had an Intra-vaginal U/S and I seen my babies heartbeat, which to me was life enough to not give up on him if something was to happen. But, I understand what you all mean, I guess I feel for her, because this was her first as well and I don't like how any mother has to go through these things! :(

What part of "there is nothing they can do" is hard to understand? it isn't that the babies life means nothing, it is that nature does this shit from time to time

She could be totally fine and have an awesome pregnancy. Some women bleed. It happens.

Or it could be a miscarriage.

She needs to get into her OB asap.

No one says it means nothing, and that is not what the ER means either. It's just that there is literally zero that they can do if you are going to miscarry.

Yeah, sorry she's going through this. Hopefully she can see an OB soon to figure things out.

I'm sorry and all but what do you think they could do if she actually was miscarrying?I know if she was further along they could probably give her a shot to stop it but she is still very early.I dont have experience from a bleeding M/C but i did have one based on my ultrasound at 12 weeks so i had to get a d&C no bleeding involved.

Same here with DD and LO. They called it a threatened miscarriage and sent me home. When I actually was miscarrying I had to have an emergency D&C with my first miscarriage because I was hemorrhaging, with my last two miscarriages they were confirmed with blood work and that was it. The first blood draws with both of them came with the same statement, "You might be miscarrying or you might not be." Of course I knew I was because I'd been through it before but they didn't say so, my OB did when the second blood draws showed my levels had dropped drastically.

Better to be checked. My cousin had fibroids and bled her whole pregnancy some women have placenta previa. It is better to be seen by an OB.

*transvaginal

And it isn't that the baby means nothing, they literally cannot do anything to stop a miscarriage.

It's not that the babies life means nothing and if they could do something, they would. But they can't. It's unfortunate and for many, devastating but it's just one of those things that can't be helped.

I'm sorry that happened! :( But, thank you for explaining all this, I'm new to the pregnancy myself, and don't fully comprehend things at times. So it kind of blew my mind, because I do not know anyone in person who has had a miscarriage. I mean it takes things a while to sink in for me! It took me 6 months for it to sink in I was pregnant.
