I think it's cute. I'm jealous you have a fireplace and a yard.

The whole house is VERY outdated, needs a lot of work but, its big, and its home for us. The fireplace is actually not functional right now. The previous owners took out the fire stack so we need to replace it, BUT its made out of tiger wood and is GORGEOUS!

Besides mortgage on our house we have 2 credit cards, one with a balance of 800.00 and one with a balance of 400.00 we are paying off.

How do you cut food costs? Clothes costs? Do your kids ever ask for stuff you can't afford? (iPods, cell phones, etc.) If so, do you ever feel guilty telling them no...like if you had less kids you'd be able to afford those things for them? How do you handle the people who tell you enough is enough? How will you pay for braces, cars, etc.? Do you ever worry about it?

Long story short, I'd love more (crazy, I know) but have a difficult time because my parents were very wealthy (dad owns an oilfield company, mom is a doctor)...we had brand name clothes and new cars when we turned 14...everything. It's hard for me to get past not being able to do the same for our kids if we continue.

Just by teaching them at a very young age how to act lol. Honestly that is all I have done, they know when we are out that they are not allowed to touch things or pull things off the shelves unless I ask them too, they know to stay by the cart, and to act reverent and with respect towards others.

We cut food costs by making meal plans, and because we are very fortunate to live in an area where we can grow our own food, and we buy most of our meat through friends who are farmers. We get our beef, chicken, lamb, and eggs, and stuff like that through the McKim Ranch or my mom. We grow most of our own veggies, we do buy most fruit at either the farmers market or store in the winter time including Veggies as well if we dont have enough to can. YES we eat processed foods as well...I know I know...

As far as clothes go, I usually buy things on clearance, like a year in advanced lol. Like right now all summer clothes are on sale at most stores. We are not into name brand clothing, I buy what they like, but it will never be name brand.

As for asking for things like iPods and things like that, so far they have not asked for anythign like that, and even if they did, and even IF we could afford it, the answer would be no. I dont think that at their age they need things like that. We do have an Xbox they are allowed to play, but that is pretty much the extent of gaming stuff lol. My daughter bought herself an MP3 Player, but it was only like 30 dollars and I gave her money to get some songs to put on it. As far as cars go, that will just be something they will have to use their savings for or wait for. MANY kids dont have parents buy their own car for them even if they come from a smaller family, I do not feel guilty about that at all. They may have to miss out on some things as far as phones and cars go due to being in a bigger family, but I really feel the blessings of having each other will out weigh those materialistic things. NOT that having those things are bad either, I just dont feel guilty they wont get to have them is all. I grew up VERY VERY VERY poor, my kids have WAY more than I ever had growing up, and I think they are very blessed for the things they do have, as far as clean nice clothes, they have nice rooms, their own beds, they have an Xbox and their own TV's, they have a huge yard to play in. they are learning life skills as far as how to grow their own food, how to hunt, and butcher their own animals, how to fish, how to can and bake and all sorts of things that a lot of kids dont get to learn :D

How old is your oldest? Do you have schedules for everything and what not or how do you keep everything together without forgetting? I.E. - I have to keep a cleaning chart for our house. How do you keep track of baths and meds, stuff like that?

During school time yes we have a schedule but the summer time not so much, Oldest is 10.

Bath times are done like Mon-Wed-Fri- Big Girls Morning, Little girls Evenings Sunday Mornings All 4 girls.

Tue-Thurs-Sat- Boys.

Meds are just easy, I just know what they need and hubby is really good aobut helping with that.

I DO have to keep a planner for appts and such, especially with my photography to make sure I am not over booking and booking during a dr appt lol.

Serious medical problems no. But several of them do have medical issues that can be complicated.
