Toddler smacking and biting! user banned

What do you do when your toddler smacks or bites you? I've tried redirection, telling her no and explaining, putting her in her playpen for a minute. Any other ideas? I've been told to bite and smack her back, which I'm not comfortable with.

I have no idea, lemme know when you find the answer though. I have heard a lot of people saying the biting them back is what works for them but I just cant bring myself to bite my own child.

My LO isn't biting, but he's been bad about slapping lately. I try telling him, NO, that hurts Mommy! but it doesn't seem to have any effect, he just laughs at me. :?

Ugh. I have a bruise on my thigh from her creeping up and biting me today. She'll smack me across the face too. 15 months and already a terror.

My cousin would pinch her son instead of smacking, he didn't respond to time out, calmy being explained not to, nothing. Now all you have to say is "do that again/stop doing that or you'll get a pinch" and he stops.

I couldn't bite or smack a kid back though, I'm just hoping DD will be as placed as she currently is when she grows up.

Skye went through this
I would get up and tell her I wasnt playing with her anymore because she was mean and then I would ignore her for a bit. Just kept that up for a while and she got the message.

Yep, that's DD too.

I've tried what InkDMomma suggested, it has helped some. :)
